NestPriced exists for one reason: to give US homeowners accurate, up-to-date answers to the question “how much does this home project actually cost?”
How we research prices
Every cost guide on this site is built the same way:
- Multiple published sources. We compile national cost data from established cost guides (HomeAdvisor, Fixr, Home Depot installation data), contractor-published pricing, and federal sources (DOE, IRS, DSIRE database) — never a single source.
- Ranges, not false precision. Home project costs vary 20–40% by region and contractor. We publish ranges and say so, instead of inventing a single “exact” number.
- Dated and refreshed. Every guide shows its last-updated date. Cost articles are re-verified every January with new data, because prices move.
- Rebates and tax rules verified against primary sources. Energy incentives change — for example, the federal 25C/25D credits ended December 31, 2025. We check IRS and DOE guidance directly rather than repeating outdated articles.
What we’re not
- We’re not contractors and don’t perform installations. Our content is research-based cost information.
- We’re not financial or tax advisors. Tax and rebate information is general — confirm with a tax professional.
- We don’t accept payment to change a price range or ranking.
How we make money
NestPriced is reader-supported. We plan to earn through display advertising (Google AdSense, later Mediavine) and clearly disclosed affiliate partnerships. Advertising never influences our cost data.
